BUGH, Harry - Putnam

Harry Bugh, a freight conductor on the Big Four, was killed about midnight Friday night at Oakalla. Bugh was on top of the train which was running at a rapid rate through the darkness to the westward. The train broke in two and Pugh, not known the same stepped off the end of one of the cars, falling to the ground. The second section of the train which was close upon the first. Passed over Bugh’s body, killing him instantly. The cars passed over his left arm and breast. The train was #57.  Bugh’s body was brought to this city where it was prepared for burial Saturday and it sent to Indianapolis today. Coroner Kleinbub will investigate the death.  The dead man’s watch stopped at 1:30 which was probably near the hour of the accident. Mr. Bugh was a married man aged about 37 years and leaves a widow and three children.  His home was at Brightwood where his body will be taken. Bugh was insured in the Railway Men’s Association, also the Knights of Pythias. SG Tiley, yard master at Mattoon, was here to take charge of the remains of Bugh, they having been in charge of Undertaker Black.  - kbz
